NIT Raipur Inaugurates Newly Constructed Smart Classrooms with Alumni Support National Institute of Technology (NIT) Raipur inaugurated four newly renovated smart classrooms—F-39, G-37, G-4, and G-41—on 18 February 2026. These classrooms have been developed with the generous support of the 1992 Batch, 1994 Batch, SBL Energy Limited, and Shri Nand Kumar Verma from the 1985 Batch of Mechanical Engineering. The initiative marks a significant step toward enhancing the institute’s academic infrastructure and learning facilities.

The inauguration ceremony was graced by the Hon’ble Chairman of the Board of Governors, Dr. Suresh Haware, who formally inaugurated the modern classrooms. He was accompanied by the Director of NIT Raipur, Dr. N. V. Ramana Rao; alumni representatives from various batches along with their family members; Shri Manoj Pradhan; all Deans; the Associate Dean, Corporate Relations and Resource Mobilization; the team of the CR&RM Office; Heads of Departments; faculty members; and students.

The Smart Classroom Initiative at NIT Raipur is a remarkable effort aimed at upgrading classroom infrastructure with the support of distinguished alumni and industry leaders. So far, more than ten classrooms have been transformed into smart classrooms under this initiative, and efforts are ongoing to convert all classrooms in the near future. These smart classrooms are equipped with state-of-the-art facilities, including ergonomically designed benches, crystal-clear projectors, interactive smart boards, surround-sound speakers, air-conditioning systems, and fans, ensuring both comfort and an enhanced learning experience.

In his address, Dr. Ramana Rao stated that these smart classrooms would greatly benefit students. He emphasized that students deserve access to the best possible facilities and affirmed the institute’s commitment to providing globally competitive infrastructure. Dr. Suresh Haware appreciated the alumni and the Alumni Association, describing them as a source of inspiration. He encouraged all alumni to recognize their responsibility toward the institute’s growth and to continue contributing to its development.

The Smart Classroom Project reflects NIT Raipur’s commitment to quality, innovation, and inclusive development. This initiative is expected to further strengthen the institute’s academic excellence and provide students with a robust, technology-enabled learning environment in the coming years.
